The recently established Global Environmental and Occupational Health Hub for Eastern Africa launched Jan. 3-5, 2016, at the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre headquarters at the Gullele Botanical Garden in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In April 2015, the Makerere University School of Public Health hosted the second regional workshop for the eastern African GEOHealth Hub at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.
In July 2014, a regional workshop was held to introduce regional partners from Kenya and Uganda to the project team and share findings on national SANA reports from the three countries involved in the East Africa GEOHealth project.
This workshop aimed to bring together academic scientists, policymakers, knowledgeable local experts from governmental and non-governmental agencies, and several other multi-sectoral stakeholders.
The East Africa GEOHealth Hub inception introduced the GEOHealth Hub university partners and involved several meetings with local governmental authorities and ministries to bring about their active involvement for the hub’s implementation.
Following a 30-minute presentation, participants addressed the challenges and pathways moving forward with the hub’s implementation.
