Dr Abera Kumie is trained in Public Health with a focus on Environmental and Occupational Health. He currently teaches and advises both undergraduate and graduate training programmers at College of Health Sciences. He has about 60 peer reviewed publication focusing in areas of environmental and occupational health.
Dr Abera was involved in the management of big projects as PI with a Swedish Umea University Partnership on the “Indoor Air Pollution Project in Butajira Rural area” which was culminated with two PhD works. He serves as a peer reviewer for the Ethiopian Journal of Health Development and Ethiopian Medical Association, BMC, and International Journal of Environmental Health.
He serves the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia for a Task Force on Hygiene and Sanitation. He also extends his service through consultation work in a number of projects and being as a resource person for many workshops and seminars.
He is very much interested in exposure assessment both in work places and among general population. He is currently PI of a project “Establishing GEOHealth HUB for Eastern Africa
